The centre of the house is the oldest, originally a separate building, with quality oak and post partitions.
With wealth generated in the 18th & 19th centuries from wool, the Standerwykes made Stepps a major player in the growth of Broadway using its connection to the Tannery and using the mill which was sited between both properties.
Sadly, both the Tannery & Standerwyke House were recently demolished to make way for a new housing development leaving Stepps and a few other equally substantial properties close by, as a legacy of how successful Broadway was during this period.
Your hosts would be delighted to provide you with more facts about Stepps (and possibly fiction) when you come and enjoy a stay with them!
